Indian NRI arrested for molesting US National

A 22-year-old Indian origin, working for search engine giant Google, has been arrested for allegedly molesting a USA woman in a five-star hotel in Delhi on Friday.

He has since been sent to judicial custody. She also alleged the accused tried to offer her drinks laced with sedatives.

"The techie in his room groped the woman".

An FIR has been registered under section 354/328 IPC at Chanakyapuri Police Station and the accused arrested. The accused met the complainant on January 8 and Kharbanda allegedly invited her to his room. In her complaint, she alleged that after having drinks, Kharbanda grabbed her and molested her.

According to Additional Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) BK Singh, the woman had checked into the hotel on January 6 where she befriended Anmol Singh Kharbanda (25). The statement was recorded before the City Magistrate under Section 164 of CrPC. "This matter is now under police investigation.Safety and security of our guests and associates is paramount", the hotel spokesperson was quoted by HT as saying. The woman, too, was in the country for work, police said.

"When he returned to the hotel room on January 9 night, the hotel security informed the police and he was arrested", the ACP added further. The incident happened around 10 PM on Monday.
