Intel expects to issue updates for more than 90% of its processors and products introduced in the past five years within a week and the remaining by the end of January.

Looking at AI's future, Krzanich announced a partnership with Ferrari North America to use Intel's AI technologies to apply data from the racetrack to enhance the experience for fans and drivers.

Sharing the stage with Krzanich was the first among a 100-car fleet of Level 4 vehicles promised by Mobileye last summer.

Building off the momentum of this announcement, Krzanich announced significant partnerships, in the Chinese Market, with SAIC Motor and digital mapping company NavInfo.

"Data is the foundation of innovation", Krzanich said, as he outlined Intel's vision for technology. "Data is going to redefine how we experience life - in our work, in our homes..." Krzanich announced that over 2 million vehicles from prominent automakers, like BMW, Nissan, and Volkswagen will use the REM technology to crowdsource massive amounts of data to build economical and scalable "high-definition maps".

And this data is the future of Intel, till now known as more of a PC-centric company.

During a keynote delivered during the Consumer Electronics Show 2018, Intel disclosed the progress it has made in the driverless auto space.

Having done his bit on the negative news, Krzanich steered his speech towards Intel's developments in the field of quantum computing.

The need to scale to greater numbers of working qubits is why Intel, in addition to investing in superconducting qubits, is also researching another type called spin qubits in silicon.

Recent revelations about processor architectures within Intel chips which has the potential to affect nearly all computers and users worldwide, either by making sensitive data vulnerable or massively slowing down processing times, have made headline news globally. Those maps would then be used by autonomous vehicles for navigation.

Mr. Krzanich's trade stands out because it deviated from the CEO's previous pattern of incremental sales of Intel stock, according to Ben Silverman, a researcher at InsiderScore LLC, a clearinghouse for information about trades made by corporate and institutional insiders.

While quantum computing will address future workloads, neuromorphic chips are being created to deal with applications that demand real-time processing of data, such as with smart security cameras and smart-city infrastructures.

In addition, he spoke about a neuromorphic research chip, code-named "Loihi", that will be shared with universities and research institutions to use with increasingly complex artificial intelligence (AI) workloads. Intel uses the latest technology to make possible people immersion inside a TV.

Intel announced the opening of a Los Angeles-based studio space dedicated to the production of virtual reality, augmented reality and other cutting-edge content.

Observers who were anticipating Intel's usual bravado, including boasts that AV processor's TOPS and watts are bigger and better than others, departed disappointed.
