Kenyatta to attend ANC birthday celebrations

Kenyatta said they also discussed how they can increase trade between the two countries and connectivity on the African continent which is critical to industrial development.

Kenyatta arrived in the country early this week for a state visit and met Zuma on Thursday at the John Dube state house in Durban.

"It will enable us to create the jobs that our young people require", said Kenyatta.

"This is a working visit for President Kenyatta, he has just come to have some consultations, of course, we do this as part of looking forward to the state visit that is going to be made by the President in the first half of this year".

"We have also had the opportunity to discuss regional issues that are to do with mutual interest, matters of peace and security".

"We will then conclude key issues when President Kenyatta is back later this year", President Zuma said.

Kenyan president, Uhuru Kenyatta, will attend the African National Congress 106th birthday celebrations in East London on Saturday.

"I am happy to participate in the ANC birthday celebrations".

Ramaphosa said his talk with Kenyatta focused on the bilateral relationship between the South Africa and Kenya‚ agreeing that new and strategic partnerships need to be developed.

President Kenyatta will also meet Deputy President and President of the ANC Cyril Ramaphosa who was picked to succeed President Zuma as leader of the ANC in a national congress last month.

President Kenyatta will also meet the Johannesburg business community and Volkswagen South Africa CEO Thomas Schaefer, who set up a vehicle assembly plant in Kenya in December 2016.
