Plans for the long-awaited solo movie of Scarlett Johansson's Marvel character, Black Widow, is finally moving forward, as the project adds a screenwriter to pen the yet untitled movie's script.

Variety has confirmed that Jac Schaeffer has been hired to write the script. Schaeffer's first feature credit was the 2009 sci-fi romantic comedy, TiMER. Now before we get too excited, the project doesn't have an official green light at this stage, but the hiring of Schaeffer does indicate that it's closer than it's ever been.

Black Widow first debuted in MCU in "Iron Man 2" and since then has appeared in two "Avengers" films as well as "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and "Captain America: Civil War". Fans have long clamored for equal treatment with some of the other Avengers getting trilogies, but nothing for Scarlett Johansson. This movie will be Marvel's second movie which will star a woman in the lead character as a superhero after the Brie Larson-starrer "Captain Marvel".

After Wonder Woman it's time for Marvel's Black Widow. Apparently, Marvel President, Kevin Feige, had met with a number of writers before opting for Schaeffer who's already impressed people in Hollywood with her Black Listed script, The Shower, which is now in the works with Anne Hathaway set to star. She's since found herself on the Black List for her script, The Shower, which caught the eye of actress Anne Hathaway, who asked to star in it. Hathaway also hired Schaeffer to write the upcoming Nasty Women, a Dirty Rotten Scoundrels remake that Hathaway will star in.
