We've seen the teasers for Netflix's upcoming cyberpunk series Altered Carbon, but now we've got a spectacular new full-length trailer to feast our (hopefully original) eyes on. It looks expensive, especially in terms of the special effects. It also looks very silly, not helped by a miserable song choice that wants to sell this high-concept science fiction world to people who wouldn't be caught dead with their nose in a sci-fi novel. Check out the Altered Carbon trailer below, along with the key art in the gallery, and tune in when the show launches Friday, February 2 on Netflix! However, the tone is a bit more '90s action movie, with lots of tough guy dialogue, one-liners, and corny jokes.

What do you think of the Altered Carbon trailer? Instead of telling a story about man-made artificial lifeforms (and whether those artificial lifeforms have rights), the focus here is transhumanism.

Starring Joel Kinnaman, James Purefoy, Martha Higareda, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Will Yun Lee and Dichen Lachman, the show follows a Japanese-American man (Will Yun Lee) whose consciousness is put in the body of Kinnaman's character hundreds of years in the future to solve the murder of a wealthy man played by Purefoy.

Netflix describes "Altered Carbon" as "an intriguing story of murder, love, sex, and betrayal, set more than 300 years in the future".

Just a few weeks ago, we were given a slither of photos and an nearly Weyland-Yutoni-meets-Westworld style commercial for Psychasec, the company that can enable you to "live forever, in the body you deserve".
