As the protests spread through different states, the release date of the film was postponed. The modification includes changing the disclaimer that the movie does not claim historical accuracy and added that the movie does not subscribe to the Sati system practice. It has been at the centre of controversies for past one year, ever since Bhansali began shooting in January last year in Jaipur.

Meanwhile, it was being reported that not five, but CBFC has suggested some 300 cuts to the film. Rajput group Karni sena has now chose to call protest all over the country on the day of Padmaavat release by the name of janta curfew to stop the release.

CBFC had given the Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor starrer a U/A certificate and suggested numerous changes including changing the title. The Karni Sena has also demanded the resignation of Prasoon Joshi, the chairman of CBFC.

Apart from this, changes have been ordered in the song "Ghoomar" to make the depiction "befitting" the character being portrayed.

The CBFC asked Bhansali to change the name of his historical drama Padmavati to Padmavat, after the 16th Century epic that it is an adaptation of. Padmaavat is a 200 crore film which is 50 more than Tiger Zinda Hai so it needs as many as audience as possible just to recover the budget and no one will travel out of their respective states to go and watch a film in cinema theater.

The statement further said, "Bhansali Productions and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures, have accepted and have made all the above changes". This has already been communicated by the CBFC and a U/A certificate has been given to the film. "We have full faith in the CBFC and in the transparent, fair and inclusive process that has been followed", it said.

The film got stuck after various Rajput groups alleged that it distorts history, a claim repeatedly denied by the director. The historians were astonished whether Padmini actually existed.
