They have been locked away in the Warner Bros. water tower for a very long time, but they have found a way to escape.

The new "Animaniacs" will be Hulu's first family-oriented original series. Animation are partnering for a rebooted version of the classic cartoon series, which has scored a two-season, straight-to-series commitment at the streaming service.

Steven Spielberg is headed to Hulu with a revival of one of his most beloved television series, Animaniacs.

The wacky variety show pulled in millions of viewers during its heyday, birthing some of the most iconic cartoon characters in history. "This marks yet another big move for us as we continue our efforts to be the #1 streaming destination for premium animated content". The series launched a number of spinoffs and wrapped its run in 1998. Recently, Hulu has been putting out original content for the younger, nerd culture friendly crowd such as the Seth Rogen-produced Future Man and the Marvel-backed Runaways.

"I am so pleased and proud that "Animaniacs" will have a home at Hulu", Spielberg said.

U.S. streaming platform Hulu has teamed up with Amblin Entertainment and Warner Bros.to make two brand new seasons. "I am also excited that the full library of Animaniacs and Tiny Toon Adventures episodes are included in the deal".

That means 99 old-school "Animaniacs" episodes are available to tide fans over. He will return as an executive producer along with Sam Register of Warner Bros. We have no idea if the show will focus explicitly on the Warner brothers (and the Warner sister) or will also feature segments that star other popular Animaniacs characters such as Pinky, the Brain, Slappy Squirrel, Skippy Squirrel, Dr. Otto Scratchansniff, Hello Nurse, Ralph T. Guard, the Goodfeathers, Rita, Runt, Buttons, Mindy, Minerva Mink, and the Wheel of Morality.

There's no word on who from the show's original cast will be returning.
