Alexis Sanchez doesn't want to play boring football at Manchester United

Guardiola was coy about a deal for his former Barcelona player, Sanchez.

The Premier League leaders feel the overall price for signing the Chile forward this month - transfer fee, agent costs and wage demands - is now too high and must come down.

United are reportedly trying to hijack Manchester City's move for Alexis Sanchez this month.

United, however, are said to be prepared to pay the Gunners £25m for Sanchez, and they'll even give the 29-year-old a more financially lucrative contract than the £250,000 a week offer that's on the table from City.

If a deal can not be agreed with any club, Sanchez will be able to leave when his contract expires in the summer - a situation Arsenal are keen to avoid as they would receive nothing.

Arsenal next play Bournemouth on Sunday in the league, while Manchester United host Stoke and City travel to face Liverpool.

Arsenal accepted a £60million bid from Man City in the summer, but the deal was called off when they could not find a replacement.

According to many reports Guardiola's side have stepped away from any move for him this month, refusing to spend the £35 million Arsenal want plus the player's £300,000-a-week wage demand.

Arsene Wenger is hopeful the blow of Alexis Sanchez's impending exit from Arsenal will be softened by Mesut Ozil agreeing a new deal.

Wenger has hinted Arsenal could allow Sanchez leave in January after admitting a bidding war between the two Manchester clubs for his player's signature will be beneficial for Arsenal.

"I don't question his passion when he's on the pitch, he wants to win, ' Wenger further added". The only word I can say is the same word that everybody says, he's a phenomenal player. "I have great admiration for great players, I think Alexis Sanchez is one of these players".

"Of course I want a quick resolution", he told reporters at Arsenal's north London training base.

"I am not going (to speak about it)", he said. There is always a way to find a balance. We don't believe in signing a player just to sign a player.
