Disney, which owns Marvel, has been promoting the movie heavily. There's a palpable sense of excitement in the air swirling around Ryan Coogler's upcoming Black Panther, which will claw its way into theaters on February 16th.

The heroic adventure opens on February 16, which is part of the four-day President's Day holiday weekend and adjacent to Valentine's Day which falls on a Wednesday this year, per Deadline.

Viewing figures for "Black Panther's" first trailer last summer were so high, the teaser immediately became one of the three most-watched Marvel trailers in its first 24 hours.

"Black Panther" now holds the record for being the top-selling MCU movie in terms of ticket pre-sales, breaking "Captain America: Civil War's" previous record.

"Black Panther's initial presales blew past mid-range expectations earlier this week", BoxOffice Pro reports.

Marvel Studios' "Black Panther" follows T'Challa who, after the death of his father, the King of Wakanda, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king. And then there's the fact that Black Panther will lead right into the massive team-up movie that is Avengers: Infinity War, so we'll all want to see how Ryan Coogler's film sets the stage for that story. He debuted as T'Challa in "Captain America: Civil War", which opened to an impressive $179 million when it arrived in theaters in May 2016. Obviously, Nyong'o is going to get tickets some other way.
