Chris Brown could potentially face jail time after having to give up his daughter's pet monkey because he didn't have a permit to keep it.

Some of Breezy's followers voiced concern about dangers of the three-year-old being next to the exotic Capuchin monkey and called up the California Department of Fish and Wildlife to report the pop star. People thought the monkey was a danger to Royalty and it belonged in the wild, but Chris wasn't buying it and told everyone to relax.

After Chris posted a photo of his daughter Royalty holding the baby capuchin monkey, people notified the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.

It turns out Chris never got a permit for the exotic pet, so authorities got a search warrant but before Chris' house got raided, he voluntarily agreed to surrender the animal.

Brown's attorney Mark Geragos has since said he thought it was "absurd" of the City Attorney to 'spend taxpayer money on investigating monkey business'.

It seems that Chris has managed to bring about his latest supposed spat with the law in California, as he's not exactly been shy about publicising the fact he owns a monkey. The case has been turned over to the Los Angeles city attorney's office. "In a home environment they become unhappy and can become aggressive". They'll unfortunately still be pressing charges against him, TMZ adds, citing his possession of a restricted species without a permit, a violation that carries six months maximum behind bars. have reached out to representatives of the singer for comment.
