The truck headed southeast into the town of Gilbert, with units from the Pinal and Maricopa County sheriff's offices, the Gilbert and Mesa police departments, and several television news helicopters all joining the chase.

The chopper footage shows an SUV fleeing a police cruiser near a warehouse.

The vehicle went off the road, crashed through a fence and drove into a rugged desert area.

Dustin Perkins, 35, of Lovida Flores, 29, were both arrested after he crashed the SUV into a ditch in East Valley, Arizona. That's when the male driver and female passenger get out and make a run for it.

After getting out of the vehicle they split up to try and lose the police, but end up back together as the police close in.

A Mesa police officer tried to pull the suspected couple over but the driver, believed to be Perkins, evaded arrest and drove off.

The chase began Wednesday night after the couple failed to stop for officers who were investigating a call about a stolen SUV.
