On Friday, a federal judge shared more than a dozen search warrant affidavits that the FBI had filed in the weeks following the shooting, as CNN points out.

Marilou Danley, the girlfriend of Stephen Paddock.

Paddock, the man behind the deadliest mass shooting in modern USA history, killed himself after opening fire on a crowd of concertgoers from his hotel room on the Las Vegas Strip, killing 58 people and wounding more than 500 others.

The emails discussing bump stocks appeared to be sent between two accounts on July 6, both of which were run by Paddock, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

Paddock's email account,, identified by authorities as "Target Account 1", sent a message to an account identified as, another email address linked to the shooter, stating: "try an ar before u buy we have huge selection located in the las vegas area".

Paddock replied saying that he wanted to test several scopes and different types of ammunition. An email in response suggested trying a bump stock on the rifle with a 100-round magazine.

The FBI affidavit states that when investigators took a DNA sample from Danley, "she spontaneously stated that her fingerprints would likely be found on Paddock's ammunition because she occasionally participated in loading magazines".

The agent says in the October 3 document that there was no evidence at that time of "criminal involvement" by Danley, but that investigators had not ruled out the possibility.

In the days after the shootings, authorities called Danley a "person of interest". Three phones were found in the room where Paddock died, two of which investigators were able to search, but one that they could not unlock. They say that he used multiple communication devices, including a prepaid cellphone.

Paddock shot and killed himself before police arrived at his room at the Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino on the night of the shootings. But the third phone, which has a Google operating system, was locked, and authorities said they could only access the device with help.

Investigators have said that Paddock meticulously planned his attack and intentionally concealed his actions. She "corroborated much of what had been previously deduced by investigators", an agent wrote in one filing, and remained "adamant" she was unaware of Paddock's intentions.

"The investigation has also revealed that Paddock may have been treated for yet unidentified medical conditions", an agent wrote. After the shooting, Danley told investigators that Paddock's physical and mental health seemed to have deteriorated in recent months.
