It includes all of the content from Detective Pikachu: Birth of a New Duo, which first launched in Japan in 2016.

Detective Pikachu follows a kid named Tim Goodman as he tries to investigate his father's disappearance. The Amiibo is much larger than the standard sized figures, and when used with the game it will "unlock short videos that may contain helpful hints for your investigation".

In Japan, the original game was a digital-only release, but this new release will also be featured in physical retail stores, as well as the giant Detective Pikachu Amiibo. The film's script will be written by Guardians of the Galaxy co-writer Nicole Perlman and it will be co-written by Gravity Falls creator Alex Hirsch.

Not only is the game coming Stateside, but so is a brand-new Amiibo of the coffee-guzzling titular character, only this Amiibo dwarfs many others.

On his way, Tim meets the witty and sly Pikachu, who claims to have worked for Harry and is also looking for him.

There will also be a new Detective Pikachu Amiibo, and it's huge, standing almost twice as tall as the standard Pikachu figurine. Unlike the movie, it sounds like Detective Pikachu in the game will not be voiced by Reynolds. With his "A bolt of brilliance!" catchphrase, he'll let you know when he's learned enough to advance the case. Featuring a speaking role for the ever popular Pokemon, the game represents a very unique spinoff. Detective Pikachu is now set to release sometime in 2019.
