Fire breaks out at Mumbai airport's domestic terminal

A fire broke out at the ceremonial lounge of Domestic Terminal 1A of the Mumbai Airport in Santacruz on Saturday. The fire broke out at 1.46 pm.

Reportedly, the fire has been doused and flight operations have not been affected. At least three in-house water jets were pressed into service by the time fire officials arrived with additional fire engines and water tankers.


Fire safety norms have been under the scanner in the city after several major fires claimed many lives and damaged property since December 28. Operations have not been affected.

Eight fire tenders and other equipment were used to douse the flames and, finally, according to a MIAL official, "the matter was under control". Every thing is under control,"the statement read".
