The Army on January 10 announced four upcoming deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan, Korea and Europe.

The Department of the Army announced today the spring 2018 deployment of the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division stationed at Fort Stewart, Georgia, to the Republic of Korea.

Officials have said the SFABs take the burden off brigade combat teams that have been sending headquarters elements to Afghanistan since combat deployments ceased in 2014...

The Raider Brigade will replace the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division from Fort Hood, Texas.

"The Ironhorse Brigade looks forward to returning to Europe to continue working with our North Atlantic Treaty Organisation and regional partners", said Col. Wilson Rutherford IV, commander of 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team. "As combat advisers, we stand ready to train, advise, assist, accompany and enable our Afghan National Security Forces partners to secure peace in Afghanistan". "Our professional leaders and soldiers are honored at the opportunity to contribute to this long-standing strategic alliance".

The deployment is part of a scheduled rotation. We've been partnered with the Republic of Korea since the 1950s and this is actually the first time since the first time since the Korean War that a brigade from the Third Infantry Division has gone to Korea. "Now, that it's officially here we're trained and ready for it", he said. It's expected to last nine months and will include several different aspects. Gen. Walter E. Piatt, commanding general of Fort Drum and the 10th Mountain Division.
