The University of Kentucky announced today that they will not renew the contract of assistant coach Lamar Thomas. And Thomas acknowledged his departure in a social media message.

Thomas tweeted after the first round of reports, "Our family loves Lexington and all it has to offer".

Lamar Thomas will no longer be at Kentucky. Thank you to the #BBN, the players, @UKCoachStoops, @UKMitchBarnhart, the UK FOOTBALL STAFF and the JUICE Boyz (UK wrs) for everything these past two years.

Wide receivers coach Lamar Thomas of the Kentucky Wildcats walks out to the field prior to the TaxSlayer Bowl against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at EverBank Field on Saturday, December 31, 2016 in Jacksonville, Florida. He's coached at Western Kentucky, Louisville and Kentucky.

While looking for a new wide receivers coach, Stoops also is seeking another assistant coach on defense to fill a new 10 assistant coaching spot permitted by the NCAA.
