Late goal hands Blackhawks 5-4 loss to Golden Knights

Paul Stastny broke a third-period tie with his eighth goal of the season, Hutton continued his hot play in goal and St. Louis beat the Vegas Golden Knights 2-1 on Thursday night. The Golden Knights end their road trip with the win.

Even for Blues fans it was more of a fascination rather than a normal game.

Of course, there were ridiculous questions about whether slot machines would be in the arena or if the show girls would be intermission entertainment. "Some of the saves he's making - probably the last three games, he's got six that should be in the top 10 this year", Blues wing Alexander Steensaid. Hood worked over 1,100 regular season and playoff games over 21 seasons before retiring in 1984.

Paajarvi only has one goal since then. A check from former Blue David Perron created the turnover that led to the Vegas goal.

Vegas has gone 20-7-2 since that loss, including an awesome 13-1-1 in its last 15 games.

Vegas' barrage of shots continued to hit the Blackhawks' net in the second period.

Ferland, with his career-high 16th goal of the season, Troy Brouwer, Mark Jankowski and Monahan all beat Kings goalie Jonathan Quick in the middle frame, after which the hosts received a standing ovation from the crowd. They didn't reach the playoffs until their third season, when they advanced to the Conference Finals.

And in the NFL, Las Vegas' soon-to-be Raiders might have a new, yet old, coach.

Both fans and players can not have that mentality any longer. He entered Saturday with a team-high 21 goals for Vegas, including a hat trick on December 31 in Toronto.

They are not your daddy's expansion team. Vegas' NHL expansion record eight-game winning streak snapped.

They won't return to Anaheim until the second week of December. I'd rather not have these plays challengeable and just allow Toronto to overturn obvious missed offside calls (in a short, set time before the normal faceoff after a goal) but the rules are what they are and the result was correct.

We have reached the point where Vegas can not be assumed to hit a wall sometime.

They've cleared just about every hurdle.

"It was weird", Vegas goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury said of being in a losing dressing room again. Moss agreed with the books - he knew fans would embrace the new franchise, but didn't expect them to win the way they are.

Golden Knights: Play at Chicago on Friday night. Leagues don't give ticket discounts when the opponent is an expansion team or in baseball's case, a tanking team.

The problem is how well the books expected the Knights to do compared with how good they actually have been. On the ice, because of injuries, the team went through five goaltenders early in the season and persevered.

The Blues have found their footing a little bit, winners of their last two. The expansion Minnesota Wild won only 25 games that season but made the postseason in its third year. "They have good players and they're going to make good plays".

Blues: Play at Philadelphia on Saturday. Hinostroza has grabbed a point in each of his last four games. Stopping them won't be easy. Alex Tuch and Cody Eakin also scored, and Malcolm Subban made 28 saves.

It's up to the Blues to keep their roll going.
