Mamata remembers Swami Vivekananda on his birth anniversary

Coinciding with the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, the five-day youth festival commences today at Gautam Buddha University in Greater Noida. We observe this day as "Vivek Chetna Utsab" in Bengal.

The Ramakrishna-Vivekananda Ashram will hold special programmes as part of "national youth day" and the 156th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda here on January 12.

The Chief Secretary said, Swami Vivekananda was the first person in recent years to bring to the western World the best culture and glorious heritage of India. "They are guiding the youngsters on the path of nation building", Modi said.

The Secretary, RK Mission, Swami Amartyananda while giving an insight about the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda said he is epitome of Indian Culture. Swami Vivekananda's thought-provoking lectures, quotes and writings, have been a subject of study and a great source of motivation for the youth. Speaking on the occasion, Ms Banerjee has announced the festival is being organised in all 341 blocks, 118 municipalities, 6 corporations, Kolkata Municipal corporation, GTA, and all district headquarters of the state.
