Winfrey is "intrigued by the idea" of a presidential bid, best friend and CBS "This Morning" co-anchor Gayle King said Tuesday, and is taking the idea seriously, per friends of the former talk show host.

President Donald Trump said Tuesday he would beat Oprah Winfrey in a potential 2020 presidential match-up, though he doesn't think she will end up running. But he said he knows her well and he doesn't think she'll run.

Republican President Donald Trump would gladly face Winfrey - one of the United States' wealthiest women and long associated with Democratic politics and fundraising - as in the 2020 presidential race, a White House spokesman said on Monday.

Numerous tweets acknowledged Winfrey would be the second consecutive celebrity to reach the White House, but thats where the comparison to her and Donald Trump ended. "And when that new day finally dawns, it will be because of a lot of magnificent women, many of whom are right here in this room tonight, and some pretty phenomenal men, fighting hard to make sure that they become the leaders who take us to the time when nobody ever has to say "Me too" again".

King said: "She loves this country and would like to be of service in some way".

She wrote: "Just saw @Oprah's empowering and inspiring speech at last night's #GoldenGlobes".

In receiving a lifetime achievement award from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, Winfrey spoke of her humble upbringing and her childhood respect for civil rights heroes. Will she run for president?

Winfrey brought the typically rowdy crowd to silence and tears with her speech. The movement has encouraged more women to speak out about their experiences of sexual harassment and assault. "Hands down Donald Trump [would win] but I think Oprah would give him a run for his money".
