The brand known the world over for building safe automobiles was recently recognized by the Euro-NCAP for making one of the safest crossovers on the road today. The XC60 scored a near-perfect 98 per cent in the Adult Occupant category.

Volvo is not a new name when it comes to safety. Add 95 percent for safety assist - 20 percent better than the nearest rival in the "Large Off-Road" category - and it's easy to understand the efforts Volvo made with the all-new XC60.

Safest cars tested by Euro NCAP revealed

Euro NCAP has outlined the safest cars it tested in 2017, from nearly 70 models assessed in a record year for new model launches.

Volvo Cars' XC60 has been crowned the best performing large off-roader, and the vehicle with the best overall performance of 2017 in the prestigious Euro NCAP 2017 Best in Class safety awards. That's of course in line with the company's credo that "by 2020 no one should be killed or seriously injured in a new Volvo car" - and the make is also the first company to receive top accolades in Euro NCAP's three Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) tests (city, inter-urban, pedestrian), for the XC60, S90, and the V90, with flawless scores. Both models achieved a 95- and 93-percent safety rating in the Adult Occupant and Safety Assist categories respectively.
