"You'd heard the rumours but you had no idea he was actually serially assaulting young stary-eyed actresses who in turn had no idea what they were getting into". Dash retweeted Seal's post with a caption that said, "Ouch, he does make a good point".

"I want to start by saying that I have an enormous amount of respect for everything Oprah has achieved and contributed in her life", the singer began in a clip posted to his official Facebook page. "Do not retweet, requote anything I have said in order to reinforce your self-hating agenda. You live in a sunken place". Winfrey is the first black woman to accept the award. "My bad", Seal wrote.

Seal had reposted a meme that showed two photos of Oprah: one of her kissing disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein on the cheek, and another of her smiling as he leaned over to speak to her.

Seal also singled out former Fox News commentator and actress Stacey Dash.

The liberal Huffington Post's headline read, "Singer Seal Accuses Oprah Of Knowing About Weinstein Rumors 'For Decades'". And while Winfrey previously shared a friendship with the producer, she publicly denounced his "hideous behaviour" following the New York Times' groundbreaking report, that revealed allegations of sexual misconduct against him that dated back decades.

Seal's criticism was met with praise, but others seemed to consider the singer a hypocrite, including model and cookbook author Chrissy Teigen.

Buzzfeed titled their story as "Seal Mocked Oprah Running For President By Linking Her To Harvey Weinstein".

He continued: "I think we need a mindful, empathetic human being in the White House who understands people and puts people ahead of their own ideas of power and self-aggrandisement, and I think Oprah has already proved her capacity for selflessness". "How about hashtag 'we all knew.' How about hashtag 'tell the truth.' How about hashtag 'accountability'".
