The president's physical examination came amid suggestions in a recent book and by his detractors that he's mentally unfit.

The president is to fly by helicopter Friday to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center outside Washington in Bethesda, Md., for the exam.

Dr Jackson served as physician to Barack Obama while he was in office and now serves as the appointed Physician to the President and Chief White House Physician. Some were recently published in a new book about his first year, which Sanders denounced as "complete fantasy" for its portrayal of Trump as undisciplined, childlike and in over his head. At the White House on Tuesday, Jackson will give details on Trump's health and take questions. Mr Trump never released his during the save for a letter from his doctor saying he was in good health.

Streisand used her Twitter account to link to a Reuters report that quoted the president as saying his administration would explore possible ways of strengthening libel laws as a result of Michael Wolff's incendiary new tell-all about Trump's first year in office.

"I think it's going to go very well", Trump said.

Trump was unsatisfied and asked again, the officials said.

Trump was 70 when he took office on January 20, 2017, making him the oldest person ever sworn into the nation's highest office.

Unlike previous presidents, Trump does not run or cycle, preferring instead to get his exercise on the golf course. The American Heart Association has said that the best types of exercise increase the heart rate and make a person breathe heavily, but that activities like golf don't provide as much cardiovascular benefit since they don't require much extra effort.

Trump likes fast food, too, along with well-done steaks, chocolate cake and double scoops of vanilla ice cream. He is also the heaviest president in at least a generation and consumes a diet heavy with Big Macs, Filet-O-Fish sandwiches, fried chicken, pizza, well-done steak and two rounds of dessert.

The exam will be conducted by Dr. Ronnie Jackson, a rear admiral in the U.S. Navy who also served as then-President Barack Obama's physician.
