U.S. embassy in London corrects Trump over 'bad deal'

Trump has sparked alarm among diplomats by repeatedly entering into Twitter spats with key public figures, including North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, to whom he recently boasted about the size of the USA nuclear arsenal. Cambridge Econometrics, an economics consultancy, looked at five different Brexit scenarios, from the hardest to the softest form of Brexit, and broke down the economic impact on nine industries, from construction to finance. "Bad deal. Wanted me to cut the ribbon - NO!"

Just south of the River Thames, the cube-shaped embassy building is in sight of Westminster and part of a £15 billion, 561-acre regeneration project set to transform one of the South Bank's last remaining industrial stretches. The old embassy is located in a bustling area of central London flanked by buildings and has struggled to keep pace with rising staff levels there.

Mr Johnson told MPs: "I think Her Majesty the Queen is well capable to of taking this American president - or indeed any American president - in her stride, as she has done over six remarkable decades".

The White House said it will announce details "soon" of Trump's proposed visit to the UK.

Johnson's historical reinforcement of the special relationship, including Founding Fathers Benjamin Franklin and John Adams traversing Grosvenor Square in the 1700s, appears to be an effort to mend recently strained relations. The new building is also larger and more energy efficient.

In January past year, Mrs May was the first foreign leader to visit Mr Trump in the White House.

Trump's abrupt cancellation brought speculation that the president wilted under pressure from intense scrutiny in Britain following his divisive rhetoric.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan has said that US President Donald Trump had "got the message" from Londoners after cancelling his visit to the city.

British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson fired back at Khan on Twitter, saying on Friday that he would "not allow US-UK relations to be endangered" by the London Mayor, whom he referred to as a "pompous puffed up popinjay in City Hall".

But the relationship between Trump and May has been far from rosy. In December, USAmbassador to Panama John Feeley resigned in protest of Trump's policies, ahead of the president deriding Latin American nations such as Haiti and El Salvador as "s***hole countries", Reuters reported Friday. "He's scared at the hundreds of thousands of people that will be here, peacefully protesting against his visit because of his racist and his misogynistic views", said Labour MP Marsha de Cordova. "That time has come", Feeley wrote.
