The storm system that brought much-needed rain but deadly mudflows to southern California has swept through the Southern Plains and is now making a significant impact with rain, sleet and snow in the East.

Some light snow may linger into Saturday morning. By 9-10 am the rain will be over. This will include the chance for another winter storm in the Northeast on Tuesday. But a bigger concern Saturday afternoon and evening will be rapidly falling temperatures. Flash freezing could occur.

Temperatures will surge the next couple days to an unseasonably warm high in the 50s, we may even reach the lower 60s on Thursday - but this is in - and we know winter and warmth don't go together for very long. As of now, if flooding were to happen, it would likely be later Friday into Saturday morning. By Patriots game time at 8:15 Foxborough on Saturday, the precipitation will have stopped, but temperatures will remain in the 20s.

Then the snow comes.
