Capital One customer? You should check your account for duplicate debit charges

Just before noon on Wednesday, The @AskCapitalOne account posted the following message to their customers, "Debit card bank transactions have us seeing double today". Inquiries to Capital One by The Washington Post were not immediately returned.

It's not clear at this time how the errors occurred or how many customers were affected by the extra charges. Customers should be able to use their accounts as normal, Landers said, and can contact Capital One if they have any issues.

The bank urged customers to check their online app for updates.


There is no word yet on what may have caused the duplicate charges, when the problem may be resolved, or when effected customers can expect their refunds.

Users of Capital One debit cards around the country reported having some of their charges withdrawn from their accounts at least twice Wednesday.

"We are experiencing issues with debit card transactions made on December 31". Aggravated customers aired their grievances on social media. "Rest assured our support teams are engaged & working towards a fix", the company tweeted.
