The game Miller references is Saturday's noon showdown against OR (12-5), who beat 11th-ranked Arizona State 76-72 on Thursday.

After splitting two games last season, this will be the first matchup of the year between these two teams.

The Beavers fought gamely in back-to-back matchups at the only two ranked teams in the Pac-12. He's that person you play golf with- you watch him swing one time and you've been taking lessons for three years and he doesn't have to take lessons.

"That third quarter, when the kids were challenged, they went out and did a heck of a job", said. "We know it and see all the potential".

"With Shannon, we just have to get it out of our minds that a particular type of defense is going to bother us", Hurley said.

"But, when you turn it over as many times as we did, 17, and 10 in the first half you're shooting yourself in the foot". "She just had one of those nights and unfortunately, it was coupled with a few other of our players having one of those nights".

ASU finished with a big edge at the free-throw line, making 16 of 22 to OSU's 6 of 9.

Sam Thomas had 14 points to lead the Wildcats (4-12, 0-5).

The rest, to use Alkins' words in his post-game press conference, was "all adrenaline", as the Wildcats' attacking defense drove the Beavers into oblivion, outscoring Oregon State 41-31 in the game's latter half. The Wildcats don't lose at home.

On the season, Arizona basketball averages 82.5 points, 37.2 rebounds and 15.8 assists per game. Seth Berger pulled down eight rebounds. After Ristic found himself in some early foul trouble and with OR going a bit small, Miller turned to senior and sometimes seldom-used power forward Keanu Pinder for some important minutes.

Pinder said matching up with the Ducks was somewhat easier without Jordan Bell around this time, collecting two blocks and a steal in his 18 minutes. This type of win should bring motivation to a struggling WSU team.

But OSU missed its next six shots, which helped spark the Arizona State run. "We've got to get production and we talked about not getting great production versus OR in our bench and tonight the bench responded". "We're a team that's really practicing hard".

"It was really what I had hoped for", Miller said. It's just once he got four fouls, Dana Altman is not gonna let him get away with playing with four fouls. "Seriously, 12 of 36 and I don't think we took a bad 3 all night".

Saturday's game featured plenty of intensity and a couple of technical fouls called, but the most intense moment of the game came from Miller himself when he had to be held back by a couple members of his coaching staff when he went to talk about a call the referees made just before halftime.

MiKyle McIntosh, a senior grad transfer from Illinois State, is the Ducks' most experienced player in the frontcourt, and his leadership is needed if OR is to make run toward a tournament berth.

"I think we kind of panicked and veered off of what we normally do", Ionescu said. "I couldn't remember where I was". "Got a lot of winners in the locker room and it was a fun team to go to battle with". "No official is flawless but that was probably one they missed".
