He described the crises as senseless without meaning.

"While as patriots and stakeholders in the Nigerian polity, we can no longer subscribe to Governor Ortom futile argument or his grandstanding on the perennial farmers/pastoralists conflict, which the Governor has clandestinely exploited in Benue State for political reasons".

The group accused Governor Ortom of acting autocratically in violation of the Constitution of the Federal Republic, which guarantees the right of every Nigerians to live and work in any place of their choice by forcefully evicting thousands of pastoralists, who are engaged in their legitimate businesses, under the guise of implementing the controversial anti-grazing law in the state.

'He chose to berate Ortom on a day when those killed by the Fulani herdsmen were being given a mass burial, bragging that he advised him not to implement the anti-open grazing law.

He said the measure would not only restore peace and order in in the states but it would go a along way in preventing the spread of violence to other neighbouring states. I have not developed the ranching areas so I can not go and say I put a law, to stop who? It is on record that when he toyed with the idea of ranching on the Plateau, all the critical stakeholders and segments of society roundly condemned same, insisting that land belongs to individuals and traditional communities and can not be forcefully taken away from them. Rather, he is simply in pursuit of his selfish political interests. His own concepts are different and for us on the Plateau, it is different.

Lalong said in an interview with State House correspondents shortly after meeting President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa that he considered it untimely to start implementing the law without proper alternatives.

"While the people of Benue were at the funeral of their lost brethren, Lalong, in his usual manner, was playing to the gallery in Abuja, with a view to currying cheap political points and portray himself as an insider of the Buhari administration". When people who trot around as leaders can not conduct themselves in that manner, it is only a pointer to the fact that they were never prepared at all for leadership.

"While commiserating with the immediate families of the victims of the condemnable killings of the past few days in Benue State and the entire citizens of the state, we can not but condemn the actions of some of our states' chief executives, including Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, whose actions, abuse of state power and the prevailing insecurity situation in their states, have led to the loss of the innocent lives of some citizens of the state", the statement signed by the group's convener, Mr Odeyemi Oladimeji, said.

"I said I will not do the law before implementation".

Ologbondiyan said, "It is very sad to note that in its insensitivity, the Federal Government did not consider it important to send a delegation to the burial of those massacred in Benue and till date, there has been no Presidential visit of any sort to commiserate with the people of Benue and other states where Nigerians are being slaughtered by bandits under the APC regime".

He maintained that population explosion has put pressure on land and it was impossible to allow the cohabitation of open grazing and farming and sued for the arrest of the leadership of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore who threatened, masterminded and launched attacks on defenceless Benue citizens killing over 70 persons.
