Felix Rosenqvist jumped into the lead of the Formula E points by beating Sebastien Buemi in a straight fight in Marrakech.

Throughout the race, Buemi was followed closely by Bird while Rosenqvist followed behind the pair in third place.

Rosenqvist was only third until just before the mid-race vehicle swaps, but took advantage of a slowing Sam Bird to grab second and then caught and overtook Buemi in the second stint. When Bird suffered from a gearbox problem in the closing stages of his first stint, Rosenqvist leapt into second and followed Buemi into the pits to jump into his second vehicle.

"Last year was the point where we learnt what we needed to do to and this year we did it", said Rosenqvist, who took second from Bird just before the change of cars and then passed Buemi with four laps to go.

Buemi crossed the line in second place, just under one second behind the Swedish driver while Bird stood on the final step of the podium.

Piquet struggled in the opening stint and fell behind Jose Maria Lopez, but jumped the Dragon Racing replacement driver in the auto swaps and flew in the second half of the race to ease clear of Jean-Eric Vergne.

As a result of the accident, Formula E debutant Tom Blomqvist scored points for Andretti by finishing in ninth while Nico Prost finished in tenth place in the second Renault e.dams vehicle.

Both Abt and Oliver Turvey, who was also affected, were allowed to have another run, but neither were able to match the pace they'd shown on their first run. Quick to serve justice to the German driver, Abt served a drive-through penalty, pushing him down the rankings.

It was a return to form as well for reigning champion Lucas di Grassi who finished second after the opening session of qualifying, although he'll be disappointed to start down in fifth after a technical problem blighted his superpole lap.
