Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has described a June 2 World Cup warm-up against England at Wembley as a big test for his team.

England are to host Nigeria at Wembley on Jun 2 and face Costa Rica at Elland Road five days later, before kicking off their World Cup Group G campaign against Tunisia on Jun 18.

The Three Lions tactician hinged his choice of the three-time African champions and the Central American side on the fact that they would be facing teams [Tunisia and Panama] from the regions in Group G at the global showpiece, hence the need to book the ties.

First Vice-president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Seyi Akinwunmi, confirmed on Wednesday details of the friendly game. "But it's not just about the games we've got in the group, it's hopefully beyond that as well".

Southgate says "we want to expose the team to different styles and different experiences".

Nigeria came from two goals down to defeat two-time world champions Argentina 4-2 in that match in Krasnodar on November 14, 2017.

Rohr told the nff.com official website:"This is good news for myself and the entire team". Akinwunmi who is also the chairman of the federation's Organizing Committee said.

David Platt's headed goal towards the end of the first half separated both teams, before both teams met again at the 2002 FIFA World Cup.

He disclosed that there are other matches and programmes for the team and that the entire plan for the matches, camping sites and training camps would soon be rolled out. "We will be able to test our readiness for the World Cup when we meet the Three Lions at Wembley", he added.

Meanwhile, the Super Eagles already have a confirmed date for a friendly against Poland in Warsaw on March 23.
