Wenger: Ozil could still stay, but Sanchez will go

Manchester United have reportedly submitted a £25million offer to sign Sanchez and are understood to have overtaken City in the race to land the 29-year-old.

"What we believe really is there are some players in football world if you have the chance to sign them in January, March or July, you have to try, and that's it".

"You could say that at the moment... it's not that I don't want to inform you, I don't want to give you wrong information and at the moment I must say nothing is decided one way or the other". I don't think it is correct to say things about Alexis Sanchez. "Alexis is an exceptional football player, he's a world-class player and if that happens (and he leaves) we have to find a different balance in the team".

The 22-year-old has also registered more assists than Sanchez, at an average of 0.59 per 90 to the Chilean's 0.18. Guardiola, though, wants nothing to distract his players as they prepare for Sunday's Premier League visit to Liverpool, and continue their pursuit of four trophies.

"I think it is a good investment", said Conte.

"As a professional, you'd have to say that the balance of power is starting to come back to an even keel nearly and then going City's way".

The talented winger attempted to push a deal through to Manchester City during the summer transfer window, but failed to do so after Arsenal's move for AS Monaco's Thomas Lemar failed to materialise.

The young Brazilian would be an exciting signing, for sure, but it's a sad indictment of where Arsenal are that two of their main rivals argue over their star player as the Gunners take a punt on a kid as a replacement. The only word I can say is the same word that everybody says, he's a phenomenal player.

The Telegraph says Mourinho wants more competition for places in attack with Romelu Lukaku scoring only five times in his last 21 matches and Zlatan Ibrahimovic continuing to struggle for fitness.

Alexis Sanchez had made it clear to Arsenal that he would leave the club and was not going to renew his contract, but the Gunnerstried to pin him down to a new deal albeit in vain.

But Wenger played down talk of a move saying: "He is a good player but nothing is happening". And because they want to replace me they have to spend 50 or 60 million.
