If you're interested, be sure to update your version of the YouTube app on iOS to the latest.

It would seem this update has only rolled out to a handful of users that have the app updated to v.13.01.4 as it seems to be reliant on a server-side switch.

The developers are yet to make an official statement but users confirmed that they were able to open the settings page on their devices and a new option which says light mode, dark mode has popped up on their app.

Meanwhile, the Andoird app should receive the same functionality soon, quite possibly as soon as the next Update Wednesday is upon us.

The other day in an APK teardown of the YouTube app for Android, it was discovered that Google was toying with the idea of introducing a dark theme to the app. Like we said, YouTube could simply be testing the feature out which is why it isn't widely available to all users yet.

You can try it out by clicking the account symbol, selecting Dark Theme and turning "Activate Dark Theme" on. This may mean that the new Dark Theme might also be made available to Android users in the near future as part of an A/B test.

Another feature that's expected to arrive to the YouTube app is an Incognito Mode.

The Incognito mode would allow users to view content without it appearing in their history and the code suggests that it would be a similar icon to that used on Google's Incognito mode.

You can already pause your watch and search history however it can be quite hard to find as it is buried deep in the Settings menu and definitely isn't immediately obvious.
