"We arrested Om Prakash on Wednesday morning after a tip of was received that he was spotted at Khera Kalan Railway Station".

A woman and her one-and-a-half-year were allegedly stabbed to death by her husband in Delhi's Jahangirpur area late last night.

Yesterday, the bodies of the woman and her son were found with multiple stab wounds on the first floor of their shanty, they said. Karan told police officials that his father, Omprakash, murdered his mother and baby brother, the official said. He married Shobha ten years ago. Since the birth of her youngest child, their fights had intensified.

She had even left him and moved to her parents' house in Haiderpur, the police said. The case was in court but the couple had reached a settlement.

The police said that the man was fond of his two elder children but did not love his youngest son, the police said. "He paints walls for a living and we have been told that he does not have a phone", said Ms. Khan, adding that several teams have been formed to nab Mr. Prakash. "On Monday night, they had dinner with other family members after which an argument ensued".

The man had stolen a dagger from the house where he was employed five-six days ago, the police said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest) Aslam Khan said the bodies of the victims, Shobha and her son Anil, were recovered from the first floor of the house. "When his wife and the three children went to sleep, he hit the toddler on the head with a blunt object and stabbed Shobha and hit her with a blunt object", said the officer. "In the morning, Shobha and Anil were found dead", said the relative. The accused was still at large and the murder weapon was also missing, officials said.
