It's safe to say that Blizzard's investment into its own Overwatch League is a success, based on its first week. In addition to the 10 million total viewers. there were an average of 280,000 spectators per minute over the course of the first week's 12 matches across four days. All of the action was broadcasted over Twitch, MLG, and "Chinese streaming partners ZhanQi TV, NetEase CC, and Panda TV".

And that isn't including the thousands of fans who flocked to the viewing parties in support of their local teams. The highest concurrent number of viewers was almost 500,000.

Were you impressed by the start of the league?

"Since we announced Overwatch League at BlizzCon 2016, we've been eagerly awaiting the day when the global competitive Overwatch community could come together under one banner", Overwatch League commissioner Nate Nanzer said in a statement.

'But this is only the beginning. With more than 35 million Overwatch players, the Overwatch League has the potential to become one of the most-watched leagues of any kind in the world'.

If you've been following the Overwatch League, you'll probably already know about Watchpoint - the League's official preview and recap show hosted by the OWL casters and analysts.
