Israeli soldiers killed, on Thursday at dawn, a young Palestinian man, after shooting him with live fire, and a shell, in his home, in Wad Burqin area, west of Jenin, as he exchanged fire with them when they surrounded his home.

PPS said in a statement that Israeli forces detained eight Palestinians from the southern West Bank city of Bethlehem, three from the central West Bank Ramallah district, two from the southern West Bank al-Arroub refugee camp near Hebron, one from Tulkarm, one from Nablus and another from Jenin, all in the northern West Bank.

The Israeli said in a statement that it detained 13 Palestinians from the West Bank.

The shooting of Raziel Shevah, 35, occured near the West Bank settlement outpost of Havat Gilad, which was built without the Israeli government's authorisation, and, like other settlements, is considered illegal under global law.

As the Israelis were conducting their operation, hundreds of Palestinian residents of Jenin gathered and began throwing rocks at the Israeli forces, and troops responded by dispersing the rioters.

The sources said that the force was on its way to arrest a Hamas military cell that was linked to the killing of an Israeli rabbi on January 9 near the Palestinian town of Nablus and fled to Jenin after the attack.
