New Celtic signing Marvin Compper facing month out through injury

Celtic have been dealt a blow after the club's new signing Marvin Compper was ruled out for up to a month with a calf injury.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers refused to give assurances over the future of Moussa Dembele as rumours of a move away from Celtic Park circulate.

Roberts is out until next month with a hamstring problem and Armstrong underwent a hernia operation this week, but Rodgers remains "hopeful" the squad will be strengthened with signings before the January window closes.

Celtic this week allowed out of favour defender Erik Sviatchenko to re-join former club Midtjylland, meaning Rodgers' options at the back are depleted again.

Rogic's injury will see him miss the first leg of the Europa league Last 32 tie against Zenit in mid-February and will likely force him out of the return leg in Russian Federation a week later.

That situation has been floated to manager Rodgers, but he offered a blunt response when asked by The Scotsman whether he needed to bring in another centre back.
