Deadline reports that Folsom has been tapped to pen the script for Toy Story 4, the next adventure in the lives of plush cowboy Woody and plastic spaceman Buzz Lightyear. Thankfully, while she didn't receive proper credit on the Thor threequel, Folsom looks set to receive her due on Toy Story 4 as she takes over for Rashida Jones and Will McCormack, who departed the project previous year. It's directed by Josh Cooley and is expected to open in theaters on June 21, 2019.

Jones later in a statement given to New York Times clarified that she parted ways because of creative differences.

Writer Stephany Folsom wrote 2017's one of the most appreciated superhero movie Thor: Ragnarok. "We did not leave Pixar because of unwanted advances". "There is so much talent at Pixar, and we remain enormous fans of their films".

Folsom made the Black List with the script "1969: A Space Odyssey Or: How Kubrick Learned To Stop Worrying And Land On The Moon" about a publicist who convinces filmmaker Stanley Kubrick to work with NASA in order to fake the moon landing.

After losing its writers a few months back amidst the John Lasseter scandal, many feared that Toy Story 4 would only continue to slip even further into development hell. With the general skepticism that we have towards continuous sequels (especially when Toy Story 3 was such a great send-off), it's hard to predict exactly how the production will go.
