Henrikh Mkhitaryan, the latest Arsenal player.

It's now surely just a matter of time until the deal is completed and Alexis Sanchez is a Manchester United player.

Sky Sports News reported previously that United were leading the chase to sign the Chile global after Manchester City withdrew from negotiations over cost, with Chelsea also having held an interest in the forward.

As with all major deals - the Sanchez deal passes the one golden rule - Does he improve the team?

It's been rumbling on for months but the transfer saga involving Chilean worldwide Alexis Sanchez has finally come to an end. That wasn't necessarily the case for United.

Sanchez will partner Romelu Lukaku in the United forward line, with England strikers Marcus Rashford, 20, and the in-form Jesse Lingard, 25, forced to fight for their places.

Over the last six months, Mourinho has not held back and he has been particularly critical of the Armenian midfielder - although Anthony Martial, Luke Shaw and Chris Smalling have also been on the receiving end.

He was the top scorer in two of his three completed seasons at Emirates Stadium and helped Arsenal win the FA Cup in 2015 and '17, quickly becoming a favorite with the fans.

Sanchez hasn't come to Old Trafford not to play.

Wenger rejected the theory that Sanchez was disrupting the harmony in the Arsenal team in his final months there.

It is believed most of the formalities have now been finalised with the renewal of work permits one of the last issues to be resolved before the transfers of both players are completed.

Pires insists that Arsenal never had a problem with Sanchez's attitude and even claims that he ideally wanted to stay at the club.

The Armenian global, 28, has made just eleven starts this season in the Premier League, scoring just one goal; although, he does have five assists, all of which came in the season's first three league games. "He is a player that we will not forget, especially for his contribution to our Europa League victory".

Reports say that the Chilean will now become the highest-paid player ever in Premier League history.

The reported money on offer is eye-watering, but United are playing catch-up to Manchester City and can not waste time waiting until the summer to battle for a superstar name.

13 - A third of Mkhitaryan's 39 Premier League appearances have come as a substitute. All we achieved and the good moments that I gave to the club, I want to dedicate it to the fans, they are the most important.

"He creates chances, he defends well, he can absorb distances and he's very committed as well", Wenger said.

"I always loved the way that Arsenal played and the way that Arsène Wenger has managed the team".
