"U-Eskom namhlanje [ngoMsombuluko] uthole incwadi, ebivela kumabeli bakaMnu Anoj Singh, yokwesula kukaMnu Singh esikhundleni se-Chief Financial Officer [CFO]".

The board of Eskom, through the Chairman, has accepted the resignation and communicated the acceptance through Singh's attorneys. "Mr Singh's resignation is with immediate effect", Eskom reportedly said.

Singh was suspended by the power utility in September 2017, after being placed on special leave at the end of July, Fin24 reported.

The DA's Natasha Mazzone: "The sacking of both Matshela Koko and Anoj Singh have no impact on our committee because regardless of the position they hold, they still have to account for the role they allegedly played".

It was alleged that Singh and other Eskom executives went out of their way to ensure that the Gupta-linked company Trillian was paid millions for work it did not do, in an unlawful contract.

That inquiry resumes on Tuesday.

Koko, who was cleared of allegations of nepotism by an Eskom disciplinary hearing, has been asked by government to resign from his job.

The power utility, in a statement, announced the resignation and revealed that the newly appointed board accepted the resignation on Monday evening.
