"I'm really excited about Pink, Gaga, there's so many", host James Corden told CBS2. When the red carpet kicked off, many performers and nominees wore or carried white roses (some men did not).

Earlier, Loeb said that she is "so glad that the musicians have come together to also support the Time's Up movement".

"I didn't want to wear the rose". Celebrities who have donated or publicly supported the organization include Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Debra Messing, J.J.

Numerous recording artists who walked the Grammy red carpet - Kelly Clarkson, Cyndi Lauper, Cardi B and Lady Gaga among them - carried or wore white roses in support of the Time's Up and MeToo movements.

With a nod to Broadway, venerable actress Patti LuPone will sing "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" from "Evita", and "Dear Evan Hansen" star Ben Platt will perform a tribute to Andrew Lloyd Webber and Leonard Bernstein.

Kesha was joined by Cyndi Lauper, Camila Cabello, Julia Michaels, Andra Day and others in a performance of her Grammy-nominated song "Praying", which is about fighting back from abuse.

Kesha returned to music a year ago without Dr. Luke and earned praise for her album, "Rainbow", which includes songs about her pain and overcoming hardships.

Two years later, he opened the awards ceremony and did the same thing. "I think it's going to wind up being an important piece of the show".

Voices in Entertainment - a group formed by Meg Harkins, SVP of Marketing at Roc Nation and Karen Rait, Rhythmic Promotion, Interscope/Geffen/A&M Records and made up of 15 women in the industry - encouraged their colleagues to participate.

"It's the work we do year-round that supports the incredible artists you've seen here tonight and over the last 60 years", Portnow said in summation.

Executive producer Ken Ehrlich left much of the decision to the artists.

Neil Portnow, the President and CEO of the Recording Academy, released the following statement to CBS about this year's nominees. We're still trying to figure out why they felt U2 needed to be a part of this.

The Grammys 60th anniversary celebration took place at New York City's Madison Square Garden, but don't get too comfortable with this new location for the ceremony.
