Odisha govt announces cash prize for National Bravery Award winners

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Monday announced cash prize of Rs one lakh each for National Bravery Award winners from the state. Expressing his delight, Patnaik said, "From now onwards, whichever children get a bravery award at the national level, they will be given Rs 1 lakh individually". The ADM of Kendrapara said the little courageous girl made history for the district and also made the district proud for her courageous act receiving the prestigious National Bravery Award-2017 at New Delhi from the hands of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The girl from Bankual village within of Kendrapada displayed extraordinary courage and saved the life of a seven-year-old Asanti Dalai from the jaws of a salt-water crocodile in her village pond on April 6, 2017.

Naveen also wished a bright future for Pankan Mahanto from Keonjhar district who saved three women from drowning in Baitarani river. Travelling on cycles, the nuns will visit different Buddhist tourist places in Odisha. Minister of state for tourism and culture and BJD MLA Debasis Samantray were present.


Similarly, the Chief Minister also felicitated the members of Odisha women's cricket team who defeated Kerala by a narrow margin of eight runs to become the plate group champions in the Senior Women's T20 League on Saturday.
