Buhari sends condolences to Buratai over father's death

President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has condoled with the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. -Gen.

His father, Malam Yusufu Buratai gave up the ghost in the early hours of this morning at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH). He was laid to rest amidst crowd of sympathizers at the famous Gwange Cemetery at 2:pm in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital yesterday. Nigerian Army, Maj. Gen. Ibrahim M. Yusuf, Senator Bala Na'Allah, Director of Army Intelligence and Maj.

Pa Buratai, who fought in World War II, joined the West African Army in 1942. Other dignitoires at the burial and funeral prayers include the Chairman Sehate Committee in defence, Senator Abu Kyari, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, House if Reps member Aliyu Betara amibg others. He is survived by one wife, 15 children and many grandchildren. Gen. Babagana Monguno (rtd) comprised the Minister of Defence, Brig.

Gov. Kashim Shettima commended the gesture, adding that the visit by the presidential delegation for the second time was a testimony of President's concern for the people of the state.

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday commiserated with the Buratai family over the death in a statement by his spokesman, Mr Femi Adesina.

Governor Abdulazeez Yari, the Chairman of the forum who led the delegation to observed prayer session for the reposed of the soul of the deceased, described the death as a great loss to all Nigerians.
