The statement, tagged:"Three million Naira cash on fugitive Boko Haram terrorists leader, Abubakar Shekau,"read thus:" The Nigerian Army will give out Three Million Naira (N3,000,000.00k) cash reward for any credible information that leads to the arrest of Abubakar Shekau, the fugitive factional Boko Haram terrorists' group leader".

The Nigerian Army has said that the fight against the Boko Haram insurgency has been largely won based on the morale of the troops involved in Operation Lafiya Dole.

Thank you for your kind cooperation.

It is feared the Boko Haram is using Sambisa forest, located about 60 kilometres southeast of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, to hide thousands of civilians kidnapped over the past decade.

In the offensive against the terrorists, the troops were able to kill 186 terrorists and recovered 49 gun trucks, 14, AK-47 rifles, 19 Hilux vehicles, 13 pick-up vehicles, 14 Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Devices (VBIEDs). Consequently, the terrorists are in disarray and scampering for safety while others were surrendering.

Earlier in the week, the army claimed that Shekau has fled his hideout in Sambisa Forest and is moving around dressed like a woman in hijab. "He was last seen in a black hijab", the statement read.

He urged all the remaining Boko Haram members to come out from hiding and lay down their arms so that they may be treated humanely.

In June, 2013, the United States of America officially declared Boko Haram a terrorist organisation and placed a $7 million ransom on Mr. Shekau.
