Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde is frustrated seeing Chelsea having an extra day to prepare for their Champions League clash.

Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde has said that Chelsea have an advantage of an extra day's preparation ahead of the Champions League clash between the sides on Tuesday.

The Blues won the Premier League title in style last season but they appear to have already surrendered their crown to Manchester City.

Atletico have closed the gap in the past fortnight with wins over Valencia and Malaga and Valverde said: "When you start thinking about margins for error then it is the first step towards losing it".

"But we for sure will work together, work with the team, but not just to try to stop him: if we focus on just man-marking Messi, it can be very unsafe".

Chelsea thumped Hull City by a margin of four goals despite missing many big names. We have to try to, I repeat, have the flawless game, the ideal game to try to make the best decisions.

"But that is a mistake to look at it that way, we need to always go into the next game trying to be strong".

Willian scored twice to add to goals from Pedro Rodriguez and new signing Olivier Giroud as Antonio Conte's men enjoyed the flawless warm-up for their crunch showdown with the Spanish side.

"I like the spirit in this team, how they overcome problems and the way they don't look too far ahead". 'We played really well from the beginning.

"We must have great respect but at the same time we must be excited to play this type of game and take on this type of challenge". We tried to score goals, create chances and we did a great job. The only game we're thinking about right now is that one. Now we have to carry on'.
