What to expect from MWC 2018

The Finnish company launched a number of smartphones at the event, but its reboot of the 3310 - the indestructible phone from our childhood that came with Snake installed - ended up hogging all the limelight.

Aside from its camera capability, the Nokia 8 Pro supposedly comes with a glass and metal design too, much like the rumoured Nokia 9.

The Nokia 8 Pro, which might be launched as the Nokia 10, is expected to have similar specifications as the Nokia 9 with one major exception - the rear camera setup. ₹1000 less than its original price of ₹13,499.

Nevertheless, NPU says that if the tip it received turns out to be accurate, the Nokia 8 Pro will have a penta-lens camera module, as well as the rotating zoom camera technology Zeiss patented past year.

While there is no official confirmation as of now, Sony is expected to launch the Xperia XZ2 flagship smartphone at their February 26 MWC event. Considering that it follows one of the most critically-acclaimed phones of last year (which holds the honour of being IT Pro's Smartphone of the Year 2017), the Galaxy S9 is very much the one to watch, as fans wait to see whether it will be as much of a leap forward as its predecessor.

The latest leak also claims that the upcoming Nokia 8 Pro will be one of the flagships that will pack the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor this year. Regardless, there is a lot to be expected from the newly revived brand. Asus will be coming up with its Zenfone 5 and variants, focusing on the camera and apparently taking a few tips from Apple for design, or so goes the rumour.

The most impressive feature, however, is the color of the Nokia 8110 - it looks suspiciously like a banana given its yellow color and slight curvature. This appears to be a taller panel with 18:9 aspect ratio.

The big topics, as with many conferences in the previous year or so, are going to be 5G, AI and IoT.

However, the biggest addition will be the inclusion of a new camera setup.

Dubbed Vision AI and Voice AI, the enhanced AI camera and voice features will be featured in the LG V30 (2018).

But most of all, the S9 (at least the Plus) will be about the camera.
