P. S. AI-based Facial Recognition Unlock has been reported in presentation materials on the day of announcement of the smartphone, but apparently the function is activated only with this update. A new report from XDA-developers suggests that Xiaomi might soon release Android 8.1 Oreo for the Redmi Note 5 Pro. The Global MIUI 9 ROM was rolled out in three batches to all Xiaomi smartphones. It was supposed to receive the MIUI 9 update but Xiaomi then chose to skip this update and provide the MIUI 9.2 update directly to all the third batch devices. Of course, nothing is confirmed at the moment, so users of the device will have to wait till they receive the update to Android Oreo. It is unusual that with this modest list is made of the size of the update is an impressive 1.6 GB.

That's not it, the update also comes with security patch that's dated January 1, 2018 along with reading mode, new UI, new lockscreen, and a lot more.

Xiaomi releasing the Android 7.1 Nougat based MIUI 9 to Redmi 4A brings hope to other Xiaomi's budget smartphones as well to get this update. Check for the update on your Xiaomi Redmi 4A by going to Settings About device System update.
