Asus didn't give exact dates for the new phones, but said that the Zenfone 5 Lite will come first in March. Asus compared the Zenfone 5 and 5Z's dual-speaker setup to that of the iPhone X's and claimed superior volume and bass response. Only the first two were mentioned on stage, but only the 5 and 5Z will have the strong resemblance to the iPhone X.

Asus also has a more powerful version of the device, called the ZenFone 5Z, but we didn't get to see that one during the pre-brief - we'll update this article when we get its specs.

The Zenfone 5 will be coming in with a 6.2-inch display screen with 2246 x 1080 resolution.

The most impressive of the 5 series are the Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 5z, two devices with near identical sets of specs. Only the ZenFone 5 and ZenFone 5 Lite were formally shown off, but Asus announced a third model in the works as well. The ZenFone 5 Lite has an extra-tall display as well (6-inches in diagonal), but lacks a notch, while colors appeared noticeably tamer and blueish.

Asus claims the 5Z's camera can instantly focus on a subject in any lighting situation with its dual-pixel phase-detection autofocus, which the company says can lock onto a subject in 0.03 seconds.

Some of the AI based camera features include the following. On the rear, there's a 16-megapixel sensor coupled with an 120 degree wide-angle lens.

The ZenFone 5 Lite is the more affordable version of the ZenFone 5. In terms of power delivery, the handset is backed by a large 4130mAh battery.

The device is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 636 SoC with octa-core CPU. Both will also ship running Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. It has an improved Adreno 509 GPU for better graphical performance.

Beyond that notched screen, the most exciting things about the ZenFone 5 are all about the software. The smartphone comes with 4GB/6GB/8GB RAM variants with 64GB/128GB/256GB of internal storage respectively.

Asus has used AI (artificial intelligence) to make the camera smarter. It comes with a 6. inch full HD+ 18:9 aspect ratio display with 80.3% screen-to-body ratio. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 430 and will be available in 2GB/16GB, 2GB/32GB and 3GB/32GB variants.

Asus have produced a lot of phones in recent years with every little addition getting a brand new moniker. The device will sport a dedicated microSD card slot. It looks the same, uses the same camera sensor and even includes the same face unlock feature. It also has two cameras on the back. Its biggest highlight is the presence of 4 cameras, 2 on the front and 2 at the back. Asus says ZenFone 5Z has optical image stabilization (OIS), electronic image stabilization (EIS), and it can record 4K video. They can record full HD videos as well. The front facing camera also sports a spotlight LED Flash light. It has 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5, GPS + GLONASS and USB Type-C (2.0) connectivity.

The third ZenFone 5 lineup phone that was unveiled at the launch event was the ZenFone 5 Lite. With the use of Facial Recognition technology, you can unlock the device using the sensors located beside the front facing camera. At the rear, there is a horizontally-aligned dual rear camera setup on the top left corner and a circular fingerprint scanner which is positioned towards the center.
