The Predators return to action on Thursday night visiting the Edmonton Oilers. It was a matchup featuring two powerhouse teams with upgraded lineups following Monday's trade deadline.

The Nashville Predators acquired left wing Ryan Hartman from the Chicago Blackhawks in a multi-player deal less than three hours before Monday's National Hockey League trade deadline.

Both Mike Fisher and Ryan Hartman will be with the team tonight though.

You want entertainment? Whatever was paid to get into the rink last night in Winnipeg, it was worth it to see a slugfest between the two top teams in the Central Division. Morrow was on the ice after veteran Toby Enstrom was scratched.

Stastny received a hearty cheer from the 16,345 fans in attendance at Bell MTS Place during the singing of the national anthems as his face lit up the screen. Patrik Laine has also been a huge part of the Jets success this year, as he leads the team with 31 goals and a total of 51 points.

"You only get experience in the playoffs by being in playoff games", said Morrissey.

What exactly did the Jets, who carried a 3-1 lead in the second period and a 5-3 edge halfway through the third, learn from a game against the Central Division leading Predators?

It was a bit of a tentative start across the board in the early going. Laine rang a blistering shot off the far post, before Stastny tucked a rebound past Rinne, but wide of the cage.

Rick Nash notched his first goal since joining the Bruins on Sunday, but Boston needed Charlie McAvoy's goal 68 seconds into overtime to beat the Hurricanes, 4-3. Matt Hendricks got things started for Winnipeg just three minutes into the middle frame, with a perfectly placed wrist shot that found its way through Rinne. Josi extended his point streak to five games (one goal, 11 assists).

Cue the Mark Scheifele show. First, the 24-year-old tapped in his 20th, on a great setup by rookie Jack Roslovic. Connor McDavid and Jesse Puljujarvi scored, but Cam Talbot surrendered four second-period markers. Winnipeg was dinged with a delay-of-game penalty for the failed challenge. Fittingly, Mattias Ekholm scored his ninth goal of the season with one second remaining on the ensuing Nashville power play. He scored his second when Stastny sent him a pass from the side of the net out front less than two minutes later for the 3-1 lead.

And the team may not yet be done adding players. Josi assisted on five of the six Nashville goals. Jesse Puljujarvi took two shots and scored one goal in 12:04 minutes.

The Predators come into tonight winning four games in a row.

This win not only gives the Nashville a small, but significant, four-point lead in the division, but it gives the Predators a lead in the Western Conference.

But the grand finale was Hartman who found a way to backhand in the game victor with a minute left. In what certainly appeared to be a "last-goal-wins" kind of night. Just 55 seconds later, Craig Smith cut the Predators deficit back to a goal, and Nashville got two more in the third, including the game-winner from the new guy Hartman 60 seconds before the horn, to earn a wild 6-5 victory.

The Predators acquired Hartman and a fifth-round pick from Chicago for forward Victor Ejdsell, a first-round pick and a fourth-round pick. The Nashville Predators have allowed three or less goals in seven of their last nine games.

That includes making sure that after they score a goal they work that much harder to prevent an inevitable push from their opponent.

Paul Stastny finished his first game as a Jet with a goal, an assist and a plus two ranking in 14:23 of ice time. Stastny won 14 of 19 faceoffs. Winnipeg completed the month of February by picking up 15 of a possible 24 points with a 7-4-1 record.

Jets: Host the Detroit Red Wings on Friday.
