Reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities is today out with a pair of new investor notes on Apple. A cheaper variant of the MacBook Air could arrive sometime in the second quarter of 2018. The analyst expects that the more affordable MacBook Air will help push MacBook shipments up by 10-15 percent this year.

So, this leaves us whether this much affordable 13-inch laptop can make a difference in sales since Apple has been neglecting this model from past two years without any upgrade options. In the third quarter of 2017, the company shipped 4.43 million MacBooks.

The current price tag of 13 inch Macbook Air starts from $999.

Are you looking for a new MacBook Air, but keep leaving the Apple Store disappointed by how stagnant everything has become?

With the latest chips, users will be able to take advantage of the more powerful quad-core processor package for multitasking capabilities and the faster NVMe SSDs incorporated in this notebook will mean you will have a more responsive machine at your disposal.

It is worth noting that the Cupertino-based tech company has not made any other noteworthy modifications to its MacBook Air line-up in years.

Kuo suggests that Apple will release a new MacBook Air "with a lower price tag" at Q2 this year.

It has been an absurdly long time since the previous MacBook Air was updated. In 2016, Apple officially discontinued the 11-inch MacBook Air.

The ultra-thin, ultra-light MacBook Air has been one of Apple's most ignored products over the last several years, with the company instead focusing on MacBook Pro updates and the newer 12-inch MacBook.
