Upset Alert: Davidson Is Only Down 1 To Rhode Island

Currently Davidson sits on a three-game win streak. "One of our goals was to win the regular-season and win the tournament".

It looked unlikely for the first 33 minutes on Saturday, but the Rams provided a stubborn display against an opponent that had humiliated them at the Ryan Center less than two weeks ago.

Sparked by back-to-back threes from Dowtin and Jarvis Garrett, the Rams went on an 11-0 run to take a 56-52 lead capped off by step back three from Matthews with 3:43 to play. Cyril Langevine made a free throw with 2:49 left for URI's last points. The Wildcats shot 38 percent for the game. At this year, we were kind of feeling safely in, and we lost our last two games, even though I thought we played well, you know, pretty well at Davidson, minus the last 40 seconds.

CBS and Turner Sports executives say the 68 teams selected will be announced in the first 10 minutes of the show, and the entire bracket will be revealed in 45 minutes. While both offenses are hot, Rhode Island isn't playing much defense at the moment.

Nobody was more excited to see the Wildcats in the Big Dance than Steph Curry.

The Rams never trailed in the final 5:42, jumping ahead for good when Russell knocked down a 3-pointer from the left corner to make it 76-73.

The Wildcats rallied from a one-point halftime hole, outscoring URI 11-4 over the first four minutes of the second half for a six-point lead. Aldridge leads in rebounds with 7.8 while Gudmundsson tops in assists with 5.2.

URI hit a season-high 14 shots from 3-point range in 31 attempts and had 19 offensive rebounds. A three-point play by Aldridge increased the lead to 41-35 with 17:28 remaining.

The Rams had a shot for the win but sophomore guard Jeff Dowtin was off-the-mark with a jumper with one second left.

Harvard's only loss in the past 10 games came at Penn, which went undefeated at the Palestra in conference play, and hasn't lost there since January 20. URI's Dowtin earned a spot on the all-tournament team alongside Aldridge, Grady, VCU's Justin Tillman, and St. Bonaventure's Matt Mobley.
