Day 6 Budget session: Lok Sabha business washed out

As soon as the House met at noon after the first adjournment, Members from Telugu Desam Party, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kaghazam, Yuvajan Shramik Ryuthu Congress Party, Telangana Rashtra Samiti and All India Trinamool Congress, trooped into the Well, raising anti-government slogans and displaying placards. This is the seventh consecutive day of disruptions in the Lower House. Amid noisy scene, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan adjourned the House for the day.

Once agian both the Houses of Parliament were adjourned for the day today without transacting any legislative business for the sixth day as Congress-led Opposition continued to stall proceedings in support of their demands. But with members not willing to relent, Naidu was forced to adjourn the House till 2 pm.

A similar situation prevailed in the Rajya Sabha which was adjourned within minutes after it met for the day.

Meanwhile, after a complete washout last week, the Rajya Sabha did not function on Monday, with the Opposition staging protests over the bank fraud and demanding a Cauvery management board and special category status for Andhra Pradesh.

Parliamentary affairs minister Ananth Kumar said that the BJP has issued a three-line whip to all the MPs: "We have included all important issues in the list of business". The proposed Bill, introduced in the wake of Nirav Modi-PNB bank fraud, is meant for defaulters who have an outstanding of Rs 100 crore or more and have escaped from the country. Aam Aadmi Party members raised the issue of sealing of properties in Delhi.
